KARACHI: Director General Excise and Taxation Department Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that Motor Vehicle Tax System in each district has been computerised in order to eradicate corruption and revenue leakage in the department.
This he said while talking to a group of media men here in his office on Monday. He said that Professional Tax in Excise Department has also been made online and the system became functional in Karachi on July 1. He added, ‘Infrastructure CESS is already online and for the purpose, the services of WeBoc have been hired. Now the importers need not to go to the office.
Replying to a question Siddiqui told that property tax and excise duty system was also being computerised. The purpose of these measures was to eradicate corruption and to generate more revenue. “On being established on modern lines, the generation of revenue will be more, public grievances will be removed and it will also save time,” he concluded. – DailyTimes
