NEW YORK: Rihanna faced the wrath of Vogue boss Anna Wintour after keeping her waiting for 40 minutes at the annual AAA-list studded Met Ball while her nails were painted.

The 24-year-old spent two hours in her Manhattan hotel suite having her two-inch talons buffed and preened as guests, including Beyonce, Kanye West, Kristen Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow walked the red carpet. Wintour, 62, made her grand entrance and, assuming everyone had arrived, had flunkies close the red carpet, so festivities could formally begin. It was then that she was informed that the pop star was a no-show.

“Rihanna planned to walk the carpet with everyone else but, sadly, her nails and manicurist took far longer than expected,” the Mirror quoted an insider as saying. “Her chauffeur was told to drive around the block several times, as she made last-minute changes, but her ‘people’ didn’t warn organisers she’d be late. “She missed her slot on the red carpet and left Anna in a frenzy. The pair had a heated conversation during the champagne reception. Rihanna will not be invited to any of her future events any time soon,” the insider added. – PT
