ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani Wednesday held a separate meeting with the federal ministers from Sindh as they were expressing reservations over restoration of the local government system in parts of the province. This was revealed by the Federal Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan while giving briefing about the meeting of the cabinet held here under the chairmanship of the prime minister.

To a question about conflict within the cabinet after the government had annulled commissioner system in Karachi and Hyderabad, she said, “There was no such conflict that surfaced in cabinet meeting Wednesday , however, some of the ministers had reservations which were addressed after the Prime Minister held a separate meeting with them.”

She said that there were some flaws in the ordinance relating to the local bodies and that would be removed after consultation and it would be soon extended to the whole of Sindh.Regarding creation of the new provinces, she said it was decided that any such step would be taken after consultation with all the stakeholders. She observed that the government is considering to create new provinces as the people were demanding it.Meanwhile, in the meeting the Prime Minister took notice of the unscheduled load shedding across the country and directed the concerned ministries to hold daily meeting and come up with some out of box short term and long term solution , she informed.

Awan said that Gilani also took notice of the price hike in the month of Ramdan and sought reports in this connection from the provincial governments. He ordered that vigilant eye should be kept on the prices and quality of commodities in Sasta Bazaars in the capital city of Islamabad. “The prime minister could undertake a surprise visit to Ramdhan bazzars,” she added. In the meeting the minister for industries informed the cabinet about the measures taken by Utility Stores Corporation (USC). The prime minister directed that USC network be extended through out Balochistan and FATA Area adding that no complaint of shortage of any commodity should come from the people, the information minister said.

She said that the prime minister after extending bail out package, Rs. 11 billion, to Pakistan Railways (PR) hoped that PR would come on track soon. The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Railways that special Eid trains would continue to operate on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.The cabinet also agreed to give permission to start negotiations with Mexico for agreement on Custom matters, and approved the MoU on Pak-UK cooperation signed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. – Onlinenews
