GilaniISLAMABAD: In an expected move Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has appointed Irfan Qadir, senior Avocate, presently working as Consultant Legal Affairs in President’s Secretariat, as Secretary Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Division with immediate effect.

While Muhammad Masood Chishti presently posted as Secretary Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, was posted as senior member, Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission. The reshuffle was on the cards after PM’s annoyance with Babar Awan and his appointee Masood Chishti, refused to appear before the Supreme Court, as defence witnesses, in contempt of court issue.

However, Farooq Awan, brother of Babar Awan, who has been working as legal adviser to PM, escaped the PM’s reshuffle. On the other hand, the surprise came when Irfan Qadir, whose extended contract appointment as Prosecutor General NAB was set aside by the Supreme Court, has been appointed as incumbent Secretary. – Nation
