NA committee rejects IG Balochistan briefing on Kharotabad incident

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) standing committee on human rights has rejected Balochistan police briefing on Kharotabad incident and constituted a 4-member sub committee to ascertain the facts.NA Committee met here Wednesday under its chairman Riaz Fatyana in parliament house.Giving briefing on Kharotabad incident IG Balochistan told all the five persons killed during firing b y FC were terrorists. He stated that hand grenades and state of the art arms were recovered from the possession of these terrorists.Committee members while expressing surprise over police briefing said if the aliens were possessing arms then as to why they did not resort to counter attack on police.Committee member Capt Safdar told police was enacting drama to save them. The victims were innocent.Committee describing IG Police Balochistan briefing ridiculous rejected it and constituted a sub committee comprising Farah Naz Isphahani, Dr Attia Inayat Ullah and Mustafa Khokhar to ascertain facts.DG Civil Aviation told the committee with reference to payment of compensation to affected families of Air Blue aircraft crash that Air Blue had announced to pay Rs 550000 each to the legal heirs of victims of the plane. So far Rs 550000 per each had been disbursed among 146 families.

Air Blue was to pay more Rs 5 million each on account of insurance but the payment had been made to only 53 families.He further told that report on plane crash had been sent to defence ministry and it would soon be presented to Prime Minster.Committee directed defence ministry to present inquiry committee report to it within a month besides expressing concern over non-payment of compensation to affected families despite lapse of one year. – Onlinenews
