LAHORE: Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday called for the submission of a reply till April 15 from the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) regarding an application requesting stay on auction of 26 shops and restaurants at first floor of the Park and Ride Plaza, Liberty Market.Petitioners’ counsel said, “The construction of plaza was illegal as it was constructed on the land of a recreational park and was now illegally being used by concerned authorities to do business and auction shops.”He said that this action intended to deprive the petitioner shopkeepers of their due rights, stating that it is “an illegal and unconstitutional act”.The counsel also said that the LHC had issued pre-admission notice to the LDA and other respondents on February 9 who were trying to sell or auction all shops, restaurant and mini cafés so that interests could be shifted to intended purchasers. He requested that the proposed auction of the said 26 shops and restaurants be halted until the final decision on the petition is taken. – Dailytimes
