Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Monday said that the government was taking all necessary steps to maintain peaceful environment in Lyari. The Sindh CM said this while chairing a meeting here, which discussed law and order situation in Lyari. He said that Lyari was one of the oldest localities of the city, which remained a centre of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in all times. He said that the government would take all measures for the protection of life and property of the people and law enforcing agencies, including police and rangers would have to play their role.
Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, MNA Abdul Qadir Patel, Sindh Katchi Abadis Minister Rafiq Engineer, MPA Saleem Hingoro and President PPP Karachi Division Najmi Alam attended the meeting, said a statement. Speaking about Lyari, Sindh CM said the recent incidents were a conspiracy by anti-social elements and lawlessness and disturbance would not be tolerated in the old peaceful area. He said Lyari was the area of the followers of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, therefore peace, harmony and brotherhood would have to be maintained there.
The meeting also took strict notice of incidents of violence by some groups in Lyari and directed the authorities concerned to take necessary steps in this regard. Later, a meeting of law enforcement agencies was also held with the Sindh CM in the chair. The meeting held deliberations on measures to ensure peace and maintain law and order in different areas in the city. app – Daily Times
