A group of 2,500 dogs will compete again this year for the honor of being called best in their breed when they take part in the Westminster Kennel Club Annual Dog Show.
The two-day show will start on Monday and will culminate in the “Best in Show” award on Tuesday. New York s Madison Square Garden will be the venue for the pooches to strut their stuff in an attempt to wow the judges. Among the new breeds participating this year are a Bluetick Coonhound named Mike, an Icelandic Sheepdog named Kaffi, A Boykin Spaniel named Jesse, a Leonberger named Gigi, a Cane Corso named Chopper and a Redbone Coonhound named Thunder. The group of dogs put on a small show on Thursday as part of a media preview ahead of Monday s event.
The Westminster Kennel Club was established in 1877 and the dog show is the second-longest continuously held sporting event in America, after the Kentucky Derby – Dunya News
