The National College of Arts (NCA) Degree Show 2010 began on Thursday. A total of 164 students will graduate this year from the departments of architecture, ceramics, communication design, film and TV, fine arts, interior design, multimedia, musicology, product design and textile design. Fine arts has four major branches: Miniature painting, painting, printmaking and sculpture. The thesis show of MA Interior Design is on display at the Tollinton Market Gallery, where 12 students have presented their design projects. These projects display innovative interior design solutions. Nine students from the Film/TV department are presenting their films to the jurors. 30 students from Fine Arts Department exhibited their thesis work. These works were as varied as their creators’ approach in terms of their personal styles, subject matter and mediums.
They comprise of paintings, miniature paintings, print making, sculpture, instillations and videos. 42 students are presenting their degree show from the Department of design. Product Design students’ work is on display at the Tollinton Market Gallery. Communication design, ceramics and textile design students’ work is on display at the college. Eight masters students are showing their projects in multimedia programme. This is the department’s 9th Degree Show. This year, Musicology Department has seven students presenting their work. The Department of Architecture offers a five-year course leading to a degree in Bachelor of Architecture (B Arch). 51 students displayed their works. They range from highly innovative building designs to well researched urban design projects expressed through drawings, 3D images and models. Earlier in the month five students from MA Visual Arts presented their degree show at the Zahoorul Akhlaq Gallery of the college. The show would continue until January 31. – Daily Times
