A chopper service has been launched to facilitate people travelling between upper and middle parts of Hunza-Nagar district following opening of the spillway on the artificially formed Atabad lake by the Frontier Works Organisation. Officials of the Hunza-Nagar district administration said on Thursday that the helicopter service would continue as long as the spillway remained open.
The officials said that the helicopter service was aimed at providing people with facilities of travel so that they were not stuck up due to discharge of water from the lake.
The newly appointed second governor of Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Pir Karam Ali Shah will take oath of the office on Saturday in a simple but impressive ceremony to be held in Gilgit, officials at the governor secretariat said. The officials said that the arrangements in this regard were being finalised under the supervision of the chief secretary Gilgit-Baltistan.Chief Judge of the Supreme Appellate Court Justice Mohammad Nawaz Abbasi will administer oath to the newly inducted office holder.
The Business Advisory Committee of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly met on Thursday under the chair of Speaker Wazir Baig. The meeting was attended by members of the committee including Law Minister Wazir Shakil, Bashir Ahmed, Maulana Sarwar Shah, Amna Ansari and Janabaz Khan. The meeting discussed the business of the upcoming session of the assembly scheduled for Jan 28 and also finalised the agenda of the meet.
The 10th regular session of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly has been summoned by former acting speaker Jamil Ahmed for Jan 28 at Assembly Hall, Chinar Bagh, Gilgit at 10:30am, according to a notification. The speaker Wazir Baig will chair the session as members from all over Gilgit-Baltistan have started reaching the capital town to attend the meeting. – Dawn
