QUETTA: The duration of load shedding has been increased in Quetta and 13 other districts of Balochistan after unidentified miscreants blew up the main Quetta-Sibi 220kv transmission line near Mach a few days ago, Daily Times learnt on Thursday.According to the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), six hours of load shedding are being witnessed in Quetta, while 13 district headquarters are facing up to 12 to 14 hours and remote villages, 20 hours of load shedding.

The citizens are frequently complaining over the unscheduled power outages in parts of Quetta and other areas. On the pretext of security, officials have failed to resume work on repairing or replacing the power pylons. The provincial home secretary had issued instructions to all departments concerned to provide adequate security to the National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) staff. The locals claimed that the staff was sitting idle and not working, claiming that there was a lack of security. NTDC sources said that it would take four days to replace the damaged power pylon and restore the power supply – Dailytimes
