Floods have claimed 1781 lives so far: Kaira

ISLAMABAD, Sep 15 (APP):The floods hitting various parts of the country have so far claimed  1781 lives,besides leaving 2960 persons injured.This was stated by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira during a press briefing here.He said that according to preliminary estimates, floods have destroyed about 18,94530, houses in different parts of the country.In the flood-hit areas, the government has already distributed tents, blankets, jackets, plastic mats, ration packs, food items, generators, kitchen sets, emergency medicine kits, cholera kits de-watering pumps, hygiene kits, jerry cans,he said. He said that water tanks, mosquito nets,emergency drinking water kits, towels, soap, buckets,water purification plants, medicines, dates, clothes,tarpaulin, kerosene stoves food bags foam beds, squatting plates and torch lights have also been distributed among the flood victims – APP
