AFTER a break of four weeks, the CIA operated drone attacks are back. At least six people were killed in a US drone attack in Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan. According to media sources, three missiles were fired at a house located in Azam Warsak. After the attack, the drones continued their low flights in the areas which caused more fear among the residents, the sources added. It is relevant to note that it is the first drone attack since Raymond Davis has been arrested for killing two Pakistanis in Lahore last month. Raymond Davis, who it is now believed was holding the mantle of CIA Head in Pakistan after the sudden departure of the former CIA Chief, may have been controlling the drone attacks too thus the lull in the assault. The CIA had pulled its station chief from Islamabad, one of America’s most important spy posts, after his cover was blown in a lawsuit brought by victims of US drone strikes in the tribal belt. The officer, named in Pakistan as Jonathan Banks, left the country after a tribesman publicly accused him of being responsible for the death of his brother and son in a CIA drone strike in December 2009. Karim Khan, a journalist from North Waziristan called for Banks to be charged with murder and executed. The arrest of Raymond Davis after he shot two men, in broad daylight in front of numerous eye witnesses and causing the death of a third motorcyclist, who was crushed to death by a US Consulate vehicle, which was accompanying Raymond Davis has caused irreparable damage to the US clandestine operations in Pakistan. In a way the incident is a blessing in disguise for Pakistan since CIA covert operations working to the detriment of Pakistan have become exposed.
The US has been blaming Pakistan unfairly of having contacts with the Taliban. On the other hand, It has now come to light that CIA operative Raymond Davis was not only in contact with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) but Al-Qaeda operatives and according to western media, he had even provided them with chemical, biological and nuclear weapons to them to attack targets in Pakistan but also in the US so that Pakistan could be blamed for the attacks and punitive action by US could be planned. In an apparent tit-for-tat action, former ISI official Colonel Imam, who was being held captive by the TTP was executed. There are rumours that Raymond Davis authorized the execution. The video of the execution also depicts TTP chief, Hakimullah Mehsud, long suspected to be on the payroll of CIA and allegedly responsible for the assassination of Benazir Bhutto on the behest of CIA, also present during the slaying of Colonel Imam.
It is now evident that the CIA, exasperated by the exposé of Raymond Davis and his surreptitious operations against Pakistan, is targeting its erstwhile ally ISI. This is an unhealthy exercise, since Pakistan and USA are supposed to be partners in combating terror. However, it now appears that the US had a number of irons in the fire; some of them against its ally Pakistan. No wonder that the US President and Secretary of State have been blazing all barrels and firing broadsides at the Pakistani leadership, threatening the severance of aid as well as relations. The ISI has so far maintained its poise and cool at the exposé of the CIA shenanigans. However, the same cannot be said of the CIA, which is behaving like a cat with its tail on fire and is muddying the waters further by its reckless and rash actions. The best thing would be for CIA to come clean regarding RAD and his malicious agenda in Pakistan otherwise it is likely to end up with more egg on its face – Dailymailnews
