British-Pakistani singer to release new song for charity

LONDON: A leading British-Pakistani female pop singer Annie Khalid is releasing an exclusive new track next month for a charity which is dedicated to helping impoverished people in rural Punjab through livestock farming. The song will be made available on the ‘Circle of Life’ website next month for downloads. The Lahore-born Annie became an Ambassador for the charity because she believes that nobody should go hungry in the 21st century.The charity was initially set up to aid poverty in Pakistan, and now will become an international concern to bring awareness and aid to world poverty. The charity which is based in Birmingham is setting up a worldwide network to raise funds for its cause.It is running a project in Vehari, Southern Punjab, that offers a cattle and goats loan schemes to help provide impoverished people in rural areas an income to get them and their family out of their poverty.Victor Trocki, the spokesman for the charity said, the organisation has already raised over 100,000 pounds sterling and donated towards famine and sickness amongst the people in Pakistan.

In addition donations have been made to the Pakistan flood victims, hospitals and Imran Khan’s 100 Villages Rebuild Programme, plus many other causes that include 19 water purification plants.The charity was officially launched earlier this month at the House of Lords under the patronage of Lord Nazir Ahmed who has been named as its ambassador.The charity chairman Saeed Hama thanked Annie for her support in becoming an Ambassador for the charity and her donation of her new song to be made exclusive to the charity.Annie said: “Poverty is a big issue in this world and nobody should be hungry, the ‘Circle of Life’ has done so much good work and I want to support their cause and spread their message for this noble cause.” – APP
