Dying for Givenchy
Looking for Halloween inspiration? Look no further than the fabulously ghoulish guests at Carine Roitfeld’s ‘Irreverent Dinner’. The host (above) looked magnificent in a black velvet Givenchy gown, ingeniously accessoried with a devilishly smoky eye. Models Natalia Vodianova, Anja Rubik, Karolina Kurkova and Miranda Kerr all dressed up for the ‘do, which was held at the Raspoutine. Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci really went to town with his look: the shade of his fake-bloodied lips perfectly matched those of his companion, singer Ciara.
Kate Moss: From Croydon to Essex
At the climax of last season’s Louis Vuitton show, Kate Moss took to the catwalk sporting a ‘Croydon facelift’ hairstyle and dragging on a fag. This time around the supermodel (who Marc says begged him to let her appear in the show), was channeling more of an Essex look. Not, we hasten to add, via her frothy dress (not tight enough, no cleavage), but her white stilettos and patchy fake tan, proving once and for all that you can take the girl out of Croydon, but invariably she’ll end up somewhere just as bad.
Carbs? Zoe this season, darling
Team Telegraph isn’t proud to admit, but day 756 of the shows saw it in Starbucks. We know it’s criminal – in the city that invented café society – to slum it in a Seattle coffee house but guess what, Rachel Zoe was in there, too – ordering carbs! Three blueberry muffins and what looked like a request for plain bagels, too (the très Parisian counter staff were struggling with the off-piste nature of her list and we didn’t have time to stick around for the denouement of their exchange). Still, we’re relieved: even if she only got the muffins, Zoe and her posse of super-shrink-me celebrity clients now have enough food to keep them going for three months. Plus, the effort of lifting those giant cups should give them a major work-out.
Vionnet parts ways with its designer
With nary a wimper, Rodolfo Paglialunga’s relationship as creative designer for Vionnet ended suddenly on Tuesday. He showed his tenth and last collection for the design house in Paris just days ago. Paglialunga said he would now pursue “other personal and professional paths”. The new creative directors are Barbara and Lucia Croce: between them, they have experience at Prada, Miu Miu, Gucci and Valentino. It was a rather ignominious end for Paglialunga who in 2009 took on a long-dead house (founded by Madeleine Vionnet in 1912) and turned it into a must-wear label for Carey Mulligan, Diane Kruger and Natalie Portman.”Vionnet desires to thank Rodolfo for his thorough commitment, his extreme competence and his inspiring creativity, which he made available while in the Company. We wish him the best for his future,” the company said in a statement.
In a sticky situation
If heatstroke was health-risk number one, shoe-related accidents were most definitely at number two. Several shows this season saw models take heavy falls. By Roland Mouret, where there were several slips on the parquet floor of Le Hotel Grand during rehearsal, a solution was found. Assistants sprayed glue onto the wooden soles of the Robert Clergerie heels. “Hairspray works well, too,” said one can-wielder backstage. – telegraph
