Index loses 19.5 points

KSE-100 index on Tuesday lost 19.5 points because of heavy selling pressure in the Karachi share market. KSE-100 index closed at 10,464.89 points from 10,484.39 points. The index hit 10,531.18 points intra-day high and 10,449.45 points low. Trading volume at ready counter declined to 86.91 million shares as compared to 103.148 million shares of Monday.The futures turnover amounted to 2.051 million shares. Market capitalisation declined by Rs 8.773 billion to Rs 2.871 trillion from Rs 2.880 trillion. Trading took place in 410 scrips, out of which 200 scrips closed in the negative, 179 in the positive and the value of 31 shares remained unchanged.Lotte Pakistan PTA was the volume leader with 6.96 million shares and lost Re 0.13 to close at Rs 9.56. Fatima Fertiliser decreased by Re 0.95 to close at Rs 9.60 with trading of 6 million shares. Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim was up by Re 0.44 to close at Rs 30.13 with 4.7 million shares. D G Khan Cement surge by Re 0.30 to close at Rs 26.66 with trading of 4.4 million shares. Byco Petroleum gained Re 0.17 to close at Rs 10.85 with 4.3 million shares.

With 4.1 million shares Jahangir Sidd Co lost Re 0.15 to close at Rs 9.67. Attock Refinery closed at Rs 94.22, up by Rs 3.05 with 3.724 million shares. JS Growth Fund lost Re 0.21 to close at Rs 2.70 with 3.02 million shares. Arif Habib Sec decreased by Re 0.17 to close at Rs 23.07 with 2.7 million shares. Nishat Chunain closed at Rs 19.25, decrease dby Re 0.16 with 2.02 million shares.

Dreamworld and Fazal Textile were the highest gainers and gained Rs 25 and Rs 11.45 to close at Rs 759 and Rs 345 respectively, while Colgate Pamolive and Raghan Maize Products were the worst losers and lost Rs 8 to close at Rs 760 and Rs 1,420 respectively.
Ahsan Mehanti at Arif Habib Investments said that bearish activity was witnessed on institutional profit taking. Limited foreign interest on global capital market and uncertainty over outcome of judicial hearing on NRO cases after PM gave public speech played a catalyst role in negative activity in the earnings announcement session, he added. He said that investors remained cautious throughout the trading session despite good earnings announcement by PPL and expectation of early launch of MTS product – Brecoder
