LAHORE: Three senior district emergency officers of the Rescue 1122 on Tuesday submitted their collective conditional resignations as a protest against the high-handedness of Rescue 1122 Director General (DG) Dr Rizwan Naseer to Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
They filed their resignation due to the “criminal inefficiency, corruption, fraudulent practice, personal victimisation, abusive use of power, high-handedness, nepotism and a cause of heavy loss to the public exchequer” by Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) DG Dr Rizwan Naseer. The officers – Mianwali District Emergency Officer Dr Qaiser Obaid Khan, Vehari District Emergency Officer Dr Abid Hussain and Bhakkar District Emergency Officer and Head of Medical Wing Dr Waseem Hassan Hashmi – presented their resignation at a press conference held at the Lahore Press Club.
They informed the media that the absence of service rules and regulations on the basis of intentional non-compliance of the Rescue DG 1122 despite the directions of the government was based on his intentions to keep victimising the service employees for fulfilment of vested interests. They said the Rescue 1122 DG was interested only in procurements. They said he was involved in countless illegal activities, including irregularities in the administrative issues, corrupt and fraudulent practices in procurements, back-dating correspondence and record management to save his blue-eyed firms from liquidity damages, especially the Ahmed Medix. They said the Transparency International had also declared the procedures followed by him as “corrupt and fraudulent”.
They said that changing the ACRs and maligning the record of the honest officers, using subordinate officers as scapegoats in all corrupt and fraudulent practices were his tactics. The officers blamed him for holding down dual jobs simultaneously, as Rescue 1122 DG and Pakistan Red Crescent Society secretary general. The officers submitted their written conditional resignation to the chief minister and dispatched their caps and crowns to the chief justice as a protest against Dr Rizwan Naseer. – DailyTimes
