ISLAMABAD: The Anti-narcotics Force (ANF) on Friday decided to freeze assets of the accused involved in ephedrine case.
According to media reports, the ANF has decided to look into the assets of PPP leaders Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Ali Musa Gilani and PML-N lawmaker Hanif Abbasi. The assets of the three accused have been frozen for the purpose of investigation. Other accused include, former narcotics control secretary Zafar Abbas Luk, former health director general Dr Rashid Jumma, former acting health director general Dr Asad Hafeez, Berlex Lab chief executive Rizwan Ahmed Khan, alleged front man of Ali Musa Gilani, Tauqir Ahmed Khan, CAN Pharma Director Hashim Tareen (allegedly involved in making a fake distribution network for Berlex),
Florence Pharma Director Ehsanur Rehman, Florence Pharma Director Chaudhry Abdul Waheed Majid, Danas Pharma Director Col (r) Tahir Lahuti and Danas Pharma Executive Director Ansar Farooq. On July 30, the ANF lodged an FIR against PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi in the ephedrine quota scandal.cThe ANF sources said that an FIR had been registered against Abbasi at the ANF’s station in Committee Chowk, Rawalpindi.
