PM convenes DCC to reassess national security

Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has convened the meeting of Defense Committee of the Cabinet tomorrow on May 25th, 2011 to review and assess the national security in the aftermath of present challenges posed by the acts of terrorism.According to sources, the meeting would be attended by heads of the three armed forces and national security institutions, defense minister, interior minister, Minister for Information and broadcasting, Finance Minister and other important personalities.

The meeting would ponder over the blatant attack on Naval base in Karachi and would analyze the factors leading to such a massive attack on the defesne of Pakistan, security lapses and the new wave of terrorism striking the country with special reference to Karachi.Sources told Online that matters related to probe of Abbottabad operation, establishment of independent commission in light of joint resolutions of the parliament, fool proof security arrangements of defense and military installations and security situation of the entire country would be discussed in length.Sources further told that during the meeting overhauling of security and intelligence agencies would also be held so that incidents of intelligence failure do not occur in the future .Modus operandi of handling US president Barack Obama recent announcement of unilateral attacks in Pakistan and non-stoppage of drone attacks despite passage of parliament resolution would be discussed in length, sources said. – Onlinenews
